Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

OCD

This is a disorder of uncertainty, repetitive behavior and it is a genetic disorder. All worries come into our minds as signals and we try to problem solve. Obsession (hand washing) is impulsive, it is during the time you wait and sit in uncertainty. We try to exert control over uncertain future loss of control, such as fear of flying. Treatment is usually medication and CBT Therapy.

Obsessions are recurrent thoughts, beliefs, or ideas that dominate a person’s thought content. They persist despite the fact that the person believes they are unrealistic and may try to resist them. Compulsions are acts, either physical or mental, performed repeatedly in a way that the person knows is not appropriate or useful.
