Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Severe anxiety triggered by memories of a past traumatic event. Victims are survivors of combat, rape victims, sexual abuse, sudden serious illness or death or spouse or child. After some delay symptoms that develop are that the person relives the traumatic event and tries to avoid thinking about it. There are symptoms of insomnia, irritability, angry outbursts, excessive vigilance, intrusive thoughts, repeated distressing dreams, flashbacks, and poor concentration.
